Guardian Ad Litem of Gaston County

A Guardian ad Litem advocate is a trained community volunteer who is appointed, along with a Guardian ad Litem attorney, by a district court judge to investigate and determine the needs of abused and neglected children petitioned into the court system by the Department of Social Services. Their role is mandated by North Carolina General Statute 7B-601.

Throughout North Carolina, the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program seeks to serve the best interests of thousands of children who find themselves the subjects of court cases by assigning them Guardian ad Litem volunteers. Our program exists in every county throughout the state, and we serve more than 15,000 children a year.

Gaston Dance Theatre

Founded in 1982, Gaston Dance Theatre offers a professional curriculum for ballet, jazz, tap and modern. Classes are offered to children beginning at three years of age and to adults. GDT serves a cultural need in the community by creating and/or presenting a repertoire of classical and contemporary dance works. Our studios are housed at Unity Place – home of St. Stephen’s AME Zion Church – across the street from Gastonia City Hall.

Cramerton Historical Society

The Cramerton Historical Society Museum is a showcase of artifacts that promote and preserve Cramerton’s amazing past.

Connecting our past to our future through voices young and old.

The Cramerton Historical Society began as an exploratory committee in 2015 after the 100th-year celebration. The celebration was so successful that local residents decided it would be an excellent idea to form a Historical Society. The society was officially formed in 2015 and became a 501-C3 organization. Since its formation, members have worked diligently organizing and acquiring artifacts of Cramerton’s rich historical past.
